Thursday, 21 November 2024 — The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) and the Office of the National Digital Economy and Society Commission (ONDE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cybersecurity measures and standards, with the aim of enhancing protection against online threats. The initiative represents an important step in supporting the safe and sustainable growth of Thailand’s digital economy and society. The cooperation also supports the implementation of the Cloud First Policy, enabling both public and private sector organizations to adopt cloud technologies with greater confidence. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Surapong Ungampornwilai, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister.

This collaboration aims to reinforce cybersecurity measures, safeguard the country’s critical digital infrastructure, and elevate cloud security standards to ensure secure and reliable use of digital technologies. It also promotes the implementation of the Cloud First Policy, which encourages both government and private sector organizations to adopt cloud technologies that help reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and support Thailand’s transition toward a digital economy.
Mr. Wetang Puangsup, Secretary-General of ONDE, stated that the collaboration will help establish stronger cybersecurity standards for cloud systems, which serve as a key infrastructure supporting the operations of many organizations. ONDE currently provides the Government Data Center and Cloud Service (GDCC) to more than 206 government agencies and aims to position Thailand as a regional cloud hub by adopting international standards such as GDPR and HIPAA.
Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary-General of the National Cyber Security Committee, emphasized that in an era where cyber threats are increasingly complex and diverse, strengthening cybersecurity measures and developing specialized cybersecurity skills are essential. These efforts will enable Thailand to effectively monitor and respond to cyber risks in a timely and efficient manner.

Furthermore, enhancing data security standards will help build confidence among businesses and citizens, foster a secure digital environment, and support the stable and sustainable growth of the digital economy. The cooperation between NCSA and ONDE marks an important milestone in building a strong digital economy for Thailand and ensuring effective preparedness to address challenges in the digital era.
