Kering, the parent company of luxury brands Gucci, Balenciaga, and Alexander McQueen, has confirmed a major data breach that exposed the personal information of millions of customers worldwide. The leaked data includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, and luxury store purchase details. However, the company stated that no financial information, such as bank account numbers or credit card details, was affected.

According to a BBC report, the hacker group Shiny Hunters was behind the attack. The group released sample data containing thousands of customer records to prove its authenticity and claimed to possess as many as 7.4 million email addresses, suggesting a similar number of potential victims. The leaked information has raised significant concern, particularly among high-spending customers-some with expenditures of up to USD 86,000-who may now be at heightened risk of fraud or ongoing phishing campaigns.

Kering disclosed that it had detected unauthorized access to its systems, resulting in the extraction of some customer data. Earlier in April, the hackers attempted to extort the company but were unsuccessful, as Kering refused to pay a ransom. The incident is now under investigation by European data protection regulators and other relevant authorities.
