Microsoft has issued another reminder that Office 2016 and Office 2019 will officially reach end of support on October 14, 2025. This means the products will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical assistance from the company. Related programs such as Visio 2016/2019 and Project 2016/2019 will also be discontinued at the same time.
Microsoft stated that although these applications may continue to function after end of support, users could face increased risks around security, compliance, and compatibility. Organizations and individual users are encouraged to plan upgrades to Microsoft 365 Apps, the subscription-based version with continuous updates, or consider Office 2024 designed for home users and small businesses, as well as Office LTSC 2024, intended for government and commercial organizations requiring offline environments. Both versions will receive support until 2029.
Additionally, Microsoft reminded users that Windows 10 will reach its end of support in 30 days, and Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 will also stop receiving security updates this October. Security experts recommend that organizations urgently review and adjust their IT roadmaps to mitigate vulnerabilities and reduce risks to their infrastructure.
