Cybercriminals are exploiting the popularity of Battlefield 6 to trick players into downloading malicious software. According to a report from Bitdefender Labs, a large number of pirated files, fake installers, and counterfeit game trainers are being distributed across file-sharing websites and torrent platforms. Threat actors are impersonating well-known game-cracking groups such as RUNE and InsaneRamZes to increase credibility and deceive users into installing malware without realizing it.

These fake files function as infostealing malware and Command-and-Control (C2) agents, enabling attackers to remotely take control of compromised machines. The malware targets sensitive information such as cryptocurrency wallets, browser cookie sessions (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera), and Discord session tokens. Some variants also include evasion mechanisms, terminating themselves immediately if the system’s region is set to Russia or another CIS country.

Researchers confirm that the fake files cannot launch the game or act as legitimate trainers-they exist solely to steal personal and account information. Bitdefender strongly advises players to purchase and download games only through official channels such as the EA App, Steam, or GOG, and to avoid third-party utilities, torrents, or unofficial game add-ons to protect their data.
