Newpark Resources, an oil supplier based in Texas, has been hit by a ransomware attack.

On October 29, 2024, Newpark Resources, a major oil industry supplier in the United States, was impacted by a ransomware attack that temporarily disrupted access to some of its information systems and business applications. Upon detecting the incident, the company promptly activated its cyber threat response plan and initiated an investigation in collaboration with external experts to contain the damage.

According to a FORM 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company disclosed that attackers gained partial access to its internal systems, causing issues with systems and applications supporting its operations and financial reporting. However, production processes and operations continued as normal.

Currently, Newpark Resources is assessing the damage and costs incurred from the attack but expects no significant impact on its financial status or operations. The company will provide additional updates as the situation develops. So far, no details have been disclosed regarding the type of malware used or the group responsible for the attack.
