Monday, 10 March 2025 — The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), represented by Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary-General of the National Cyber Security Committee, and the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, represented by Mr. Wittaya Yamuang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Transport, jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cybersecurity measures for the transportation and logistics sector, which is considered one of the country’s critical infrastructures.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Dr. Nahatthai Thewpai-ngam, Assistant Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, who also delivered the opening remarks at the event announcing the progress of the Sectoral CERT Development Project for the Transportation and Logistics Sector. She emphasized the importance of strengthening protection against cyber threats that may impact the nation’s transportation infrastructure.

Dr. Nahatthai Thewpai-ngam stated that transportation functions as the lifeline of the country. If cyber threats occur within transportation systems, they could cause significant impacts on public safety as well as the national economy. Therefore, strengthening preventive measures is essential to ensure that citizens can use transportation services with confidence and safety.

Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey added that Thailand’s transportation systems increasingly rely on digital technologies, including train control systems, electronic ticketing systems, transportation communication networks, and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). While these technologies improve efficiency and convenience, they also create new opportunities for cyber threats. Therefore, transportation infrastructure remains a critical foundation for the country’s economic and social development. This cooperation will help reduce cyber risks and elevate security standards in alignment with international best practices.

Mr. Wittaya Yamuang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Transport, stated that the Ministry of Transport recognizes the importance of cybersecurity, as modern transportation systems increasingly depend on digital technologies and are therefore exposed to more complex cyber threats. Cooperation with NCSA will help strengthen cybersecurity protection measures and improve the overall effectiveness of cyber threat prevention in the transportation sector.

In addition, NCSA and the Ministry of Transport will jointly develop a Sectoral Computer Emergency Response Team (Sectoral CERT) for the transportation and logistics sector, along with cybersecurity training programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of relevant agencies. These initiatives will enable organizations to effectively monitor, detect, and respond to cyber threats.

This cooperation represents an important step for Thailand in protecting its national critical infrastructure from cyber threats and strengthening public and business confidence in the safety and reliability of transportation services.
