Microsoft has confirmed that it is urgently investigating technical issues affecting the Extended Security Update (ESU) patch KB5068781 for Windows 10, released on November 11. Many enterprise users have reported that the update fails to install, returning error code 0x800f0922. According to Microsoft, the issue occurs only on devices activated through Windows subscription activation in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
The problem presents itself as follows: the system initially shows the update as successfully installed, but after a reboot, it fails to apply the changes and rolls back to the previous state, displaying Error 0x800f0922. Microsoft stated that there is currently no estimated time of resolution (ETA) and no workaround available at this time.
Additionally, IT administrators across various organizations have encountered another issue: some Windows 10 devices do not display KB5068781 as required, even though they should normally receive the update. This inconsistency has caused confusion and may impact patch management processes within enterprises.
