Reports indicate that the hack-and-leak cybercriminal group FulcrumSec has claimed responsibility for breaching and stealing approximately 1.3 terabytes of data from Novo Nordisk, the Danish pharmaceutical giant behind major diabetes and weight-management medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Victoza, and Saxenda, as well as several insulin products. The group’s claim emerged shortly after Novo Nordisk disclosed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to portions of its internal IT environment, including systems that store personal information.

Novo Nordisk stated that the incident affected a limited amount of data related to participants in certain clinical research programs. The information potentially exposed includes randomly assigned patient identification codes, participation details, gender, year of birth, biomarker information, health or immunological data, and certain behavioral or lifestyle factors. However, the company emphasized that the affected data was not linked to patient names or directly identifiable personal information, and that identifying information was not exposed. As a result, Novo Nordisk currently assesses that the incident is unlikely to enable external parties to identify individual clinical trial participants.

At this time, Novo Nordisk has not disclosed technical details regarding the intrusion, nor has it confirmed the extent of the data allegedly stolen as claimed by FulcrumSec. The company continues to investigate the incident and has not publicly verified the group’s assertion that 1.3 TB of data was exfiltrated.
