Tata Electronics has confirmed that it was the target of a cyberattack that affected portions of its internal IT infrastructure. The company stated that it detected the incident several weeks ago and immediately initiated its incident response procedures. Tata Electronics emphasized that the attack has not affected its business operations, which continue to function normally. A subsidiary of the Tata Group, Tata Electronics is a leading Indian manufacturer specializing in electronics and semiconductor components and plays a key role in the production and assembly of iPhones and iPhone components for Apple.

Although Tata Electronics has not identified the threat actor responsible for the attack, the company’s confirmation came shortly after the cybercriminal group World Leaks claimed responsibility and published what it alleged to be stolen company data. The leaked materials reportedly include directory listings and multiple documents that may relate to Apple’s manufacturing operations, such as internal component diagrams, printed circuit board (PCB) designs, material specifications, and software development kit (SDK) files. However, there has been no official confirmation that Apple’s proprietary information was exposed or affected by the incident.

World Leaks is widely believed to be the successor to the ransomware group Hunters International, which ceased operations in July 2025. Unlike Hunters International, which primarily relied on file encryption during ransomware attacks, World Leaks focuses on data theft and extortion by threatening to publish stolen information online. The group has previously been linked to several high-profile incidents, including Dell, which confirmed a data breach in July 2025, and Nike, which launched an investigation after attackers claimed to have stolen approximately 1.4 TB of company data in January 2026.
