Last Saturday, the Israeli military hacked the communication network of the air traffic control tower at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon, and sent a warning to a civilian Iranian plane attempting to land, forcing it to return to Tehran. According to a report from MiddleEastMonitor, Lebanon’s Ministry of Transportation ordered airport officials not to allow the Iranian aircraft to enter Lebanese airspace following the Israeli breach. This decision followed warnings from the Israeli military, which aimed to prevent the transfer of weapons to Hezbollah through Beirut Airport.

Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israeli military, stated, “We will not allow weapons to be transported to Hezbollah in any form. We are aware of the weapons being transported from Iran to Hezbollah, and we will take action to prevent it.” He added, “This airport is a civilian airport for civilian use, and it must remain that way.” Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Minister of Transportation, Ali Hamieh, confirmed to the newspaper “An-Nahar” that the Israeli military had breached the communication system of the airport’s control tower and threatened to attack the infrastructure if the Iranian plane landed.

The Israeli military claims that Beirut Airport is being used as a point of weapons transfer to Hezbollah, but Lebanese authorities have denied this, insisting that the airport is strictly for civilian use.
